Where did you start?

DIY hardware?

Any good guides you'd recommend?

My research pointed me to these: https://www.rakwireless.com/en-us/products/wisblock

I'll get them this week and have a more hands on opinion of them.

Just getting into it. I'm definitely no expert. I bought 2 different devices to experiment with. Joined a few local groups to learn more. Mainly educating myself through YouTube - tons of videos. Some devices require no builds and are assembled like the T-Echo. Others require a bit of learning curve.

I've got a couple wisblock boards coming in this week and I'm so stocked to play around with this.

Meshtastic is such a compelling project to me.

Awesome! I'm down that rabbit hole right now. Wisblock looks so interesting. There's one Youber posting his build right now. Fascinating.

Yeah the LilyGo TBeams look great too but Wisblock has a much lower power draw so I can run them off solar and batteries and seed them around town in strategic places to be able to reach family/friends

Interesting

it can serve as WIDE AREA RADIO MESH using VARIOUS devices over a LONG RANGES (without internet) - NOSTR can run on top of this in remote MOUNTAINS / OCEAN / DESERT where

no towers exists since no commercial feasible.
