it feels like relays could be something like the organs which make up the nostr network body.

or else perhaps they are like places: rooms, cities, or even countries.

or maybe they are like teams or clubs where membership is based on shared interests.

regardless, i think it is clear that they need to be foregrounded in some spheres of the nostr experience.
