It will be too big of a list. Follows already break after 1000. Contacts will be much bigger than that.

Why not have the user choose a contact list and show how many contacts they have left to add to that contact list: 50/1000
It also helps organizing contacts. Maybe even default contact list names
I don't know if limiting makes sense. At some point we are going to have 100 spammers for each real pubkey, so they will be a need to create more interesting relationships between keys and limits won't really be helpful.
Is this for spammers of normal users to add contacts? I am a bit confused
The goal would be to start marking folks you talk to over and over again but don't necessarily follow. Interesting replies for instance, can be added so that if the person replies again the app can tell that it is the same person and not an impostor.
It's like on chats, if you reply to a DM, it marks that person down in the known tab. I am trying to envision a similar thing for the regular feed.

Itās not a follow more like adding someone to your address book so you know who you interacted with. I think showing tags like āThis person is not a contactā in DMs and while viewing profiles would help a lot
I really donāt get the logic of thereās gonna be spammers so we aināt building stuff
I probably misunderstood, I was thinking of the contact list as something users manage themselves so they can look em up later and for it to show on the ui.
And also so we are not forced to follow people to make them our contacts.
