Thought I'd share my face care. It doesn't need a lot of money. I find a lot of commercial face products actually produce the problems they say they're solving. For example, a cleanser will strip your face of its natural oils, which then requires a moisturizer, which then forms a layer on your skin which needs exfoliating....
Sometimes I'll buy commercial products if I recognize each and every ingredient. Which is rare.
I've got a few professional facials in my life, mostly for the relaxation, but I can't afford to do them very often and besides--a lot of the products are not good for my skin to eat!
So for the dailies, this is my current lineup. Essential oils chosen for their antioxidant, antibacterial and antiseptic properties (among other reasons). Dilution is 2%, safe for everyday use.
Cleansing--2 oz sesame oil infused with calendula mixed with quality olive oil, 12 drops bergamot eo, 8 drops geranium, 4 drops rosemary.
Tonic: rose water
Moisten (my face is balanced but tends to be drier in winter): apricot kernel oil mixed with calendula sesame oil, 16 drops lavender and 8 drops frankincense.
Both the cleanser and moisturizer are pretty much interchangeable. In fact, you could use straight olive oil (and many other oils depending on your skin condition) and nothing else! All ingredients are organic, as they should be.
What does your facial skin eat?
