Nothing like the plain old "splitting one standard into two standards to make a better standard until a third person splits again and we get 3 standards".

Stop thinking the NIP repo is all or nothing.

People can do whatever they want in Nostr. The repo is just a way to sync in with everybody else.

Correct. Nostr is all about building what you want. But too many people treat the nips repo like a place to lobby everyone about their pet idea before bothering to actually build something useful and used and prove that it’s even a good idea.

Agree. But lobbying is fine. New ideas are fine. It's part of the process. It's on us to not take them too seriously until they implement it.

I prefer they publish what they intend to do early and get some feedback than going straight into building some shitty version of it that breaks everything and only then start talking to the rest of us on how to fix it.

That is fine but keeping ideas out because you are afraid to update too many clients is not a good thing as well. Though browser implementation initially was a mess, eventually a standard emerged that everyone now use or at least clearly state what they do and don’t support. E tag is a common industry approach in CRM.
