They asked a couple of bitcoin questions but still are on zero and generally confused about what is money.

Just had an uncle tell me he should have bought some, but also he can't invest in anything that would threaten the USD. 🤷

Did you ask why USD is good? I took an oath during my naval enlistment and it mentioned nothing of USD or the Federal Reserve.

The officers appointed over you say they must protect the USD. That's how they get you. The officers oath just has the constitution bit.

I suppose because many of his other investments depend on a strong USD.

He is British and I am Canadian so there is definitely no oath to USD in this conversation.
