Personally, I love how it cheers me up, the hormesis and immune strengthening effect it has, and that it gives me that feeling of stronger connection with nature.

It's both, a strengthened mindset cause you know you can do this. But you also adapt to the cold. E.g. your metabolism becomes more efficient in producing heat energy and the tiny blood vessels in your skin constrict better, making it easier to retain your core body temperature.
