Sorry, I meant the Trivia Masters account.
Says the post was flagged as inappropriate. When I view the account profile it shows as blocked.
Built in spam filter gone awry perhaps?
Guessing the creators of Amethyst are just not fans of trivia? nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z curious why a trivia bot that pays sats to people who respond blocked/ marked as a spammer? Every message has unique characters and it does not initiate first to others.
Dozens of duplicated messages to the same users. :( The bot went straight into the spam filter.
Is the bot just replying the same thing over and over again?
If you follow the bot, then it doesn't go into spam. Frankly, for those of us that don't want to participate in the game, it does look like spam.
Then my account is blocked as well?
Is amethyst a part of the Fediverse?
It doesn't look like. As long as you don't spam people with the same message, you should be fine.
No, it's just simple Nostr.
What are the rules for “banning?”
Is it simple bot prevention?
Can it be abused?
If you send 5+ messages that are exactly equal in a short period of time, Amethyst puts you in a temporary block.
If people report you, they send a message to their followers with the report. If a follower receives 5+ reports from different people, your posts appear with a warning.
Of course, users can always disable these filters. But since they are effective, very few do.
By this original person’s comment to me, I’m guessing some probably don’t even know it’s on by default. But it’s his app, so I’ll see what I can do. I did these bots for the fun of it and to give sats away, not to be nuisance.
It should be modeled after Odysee.
There, Odysee has to pay a small LBC fee for posting or leaving a message, which can instantly reduce 99% of spam users, and users who don't have LBC can get it through many rewarding tasks in the site.
Dozens of what messages? Trivia questions itself are unique. There’s a pre-warning message that is sent out prior to the trivia post but it contains a time stamp at the bottom. In fact every message has a time stamp to give it a uniqueness. People were complaining that they didn’t have enough warning. I went back months ago and marked any duplicate messages as deleted. You have to follow the bot to see it’s posts so it’s not bothering others.
I think most of these posts are old, you can see here: https://snort.social/search/The%20next%20round%20of%20Trivia%20Masters%20(beta)%20by%20%23%5B0%5D%20will%20begin%20in%201%20minute.%20Get%20yourself%20ready!%20Keeping%20the%20rewards%20lower%20until%20the%20kinks%20are%20worked%20out.%20The%20first%20correct%20answer%20will%20win%2010%20sats%20and%20a%20consolation%20prize%20of%203%20sats%20will%20be%20given%20to%20one%20other%20random%20participant.%20All%20bots%20will%20be%20disqualified.%20%23trivia%20%23plebchain
You might need to delete a char and add it back to refresh the screen if you don't see any posts.
The account is probably not in the spam folder until people go to the profile and the last 1000 messages are loaded. That's when all the duplications come and the app goes nuts.
