i’ve been suggesting there should be a “create” button or something on these web clients. or maybe even a “login” button for more clarity? idk, wdyt, #[5] ? then could walk through nip-07 without explicitly mentioning it 😝
Discussion
That sounds like something I could easily understand, at least.
It’s a tall order; I think this is better handed out to specific onboarding apps
Each client doing its own onboarding will lead to subpar experiences on them all and the onboarding experience could be done within the client to not “lose” the user
Didn't get everything but sounds like healthy competition brings better customer retention is this what you mean?
not really; it's not core to the product and onboarding in nostr is not the easiest of things
there can be competition on apps that compete on being the best at onboarding specifically but are not a typical client per se
so if you arrive at a client like habla.news or primal.net shouldn’t there be a button that takes you through *some experience* (even if not developed by the developer of that particular client)
yes, it could be embedded; I'm just saying that not every client needs to implement a half-baked (not their core competency) onboarding flow; it could be as simple as an embedded modal that calls into a proper onboarding-focused flow that helps with discoverability, profile setup, bring-your-network-from-other-sites, and whatever else that can be imagined
onboarding experiences is where you lose most of the people and I'm going to guess that we're churning like crazy atm
agreed. i think most churn occurs because people never get connected to active/interesting accounts. simple onboarding can fix this, and because the foundational nature of nostr that discovery surface may be centralizing in its particular decisions to start, but can’t control/abuse the user
