Between 1958 and 1962, Chinese leader Mao Zedong ordered his people to kill four creatures (mosquitoes, flies, sparrows, and rats). They only succeeded in eliminating sparrows that were eating crop grains. Later, the locusts that were eaten by sparrows spread tragically in the country, destroying crops, becoming one of the main causes of the Great #China Famine between 1958 and 1961, which caused the death of 15 million people from starvation.
