It's not just hackers I'm worried about. DNA testing is a popular way to trace one's family history and ancestry, but it also raises privacy concerns. Some (well most) commercial DNA testing companies share their customers' genetic data with law enforcement agencies to help solve crimes, either voluntarily or under legal pressure. This could expose personal information or implicate innocent people in criminal investigations. According to a Pew Research Center survey, about half of Americans are OK with this practice, while a third find it unacceptable. Here are some sources for more information:
