What I wish I could say to my boomer relatives :

Is your health situation going to be better or worse in 5 years? Are you going to be more or less dependent on external factors, like healthcare or social security? Is a repeat of 2008 more or less likely over the next 5 years?

Bitcoin bitcoin bitcoin bitcoin bitcoin!!!!!!!!!!

But I can never get the conversation even that far. They get diverted into... basically boomer slop - one liners they've been trained on. No questions, ever, and not just about bitcoin. Simply no questions, ever. Just these stupid Dave Ramsey one liners that I guess they think are zingers. Thought blocks.

Veeeeeeery interesting. I'm gonna have to spend some time with this

I wish my boomers made it as far as Dave Ramsey. Mine are still talking about universal Medicare and trying to convince me social security is sustainable.

Mine are still trying to convince me SS is sustainable. All of their arguments are based on fear, not actual analysis.

They still thing the are going to be able to retire on SS alone lol

*think

They mostly already did. But I've explained to them that SS payments adjust for an incorrect inflation figure, and showed them how inflation is incorrectly reported (and they know I have an econ degree, but they don't know the degree didn't teach that), and they have seen how their own parents were left completely destitute and dependent on them after decades of SS payments which didn't keep up with inflation. They have all the information to know that SS will not work for them, even in the best case scenario. But they still don't listen or ask.

Yep
