My achilles heel is that I hate marketing, try to live by my values as much as possible and am honest even if it looses me my head.

Marketing doesn’t mean not living by your values. You can do both.
In fact, you can do marketing by talking about your values 😆
I do, so far it clearly doesn't work 😂. Most people just don't wanna hear the truth.
Example: I try to "sell" the idea to migrate towards Linux because it's open-source not controlled by big tech, free, etc.. But my critical-thinking conspiracy theorist friends will then instead ask: is it easy and convenient? Which I honestly gonna answer with "less convenient than staying with big-tech".
Convenience almost always wins as a argument over independence and freedom, even in quasi freedom-loving communities.
Oof that’s a tough sell. I would imagine most normal people who are not techies may not even heard of Linux. The bar to switch OS is pretty high. People don’t even install their own - it comes with the machine you buy. Asking people to do their own IT on an OS they never heard of is going to be very difficult.
Hell, I’ve used Linux and I don’t switch to it 😂
True! And it's basically the same argumentation for every life decision, not only software. Asking people to trade away convinience for independence almost never works.
