he was a member of the action group that became Greenpeace, he was the president of Greenpeace Canada and a director for Greenpeace International, but IMO it is an overstatement (or rhetorical flourish) to say he was *the* Greenpeace founder.

Lets say he has a long track record.
Specifically his book is monstrously scholarly - he cites sci literature to where some pages are half footnotes.
