BAT token is going for a sort of sneaky rug pull.

You now need it connected to a custodial account and if you don't your old BAT token gets removed by 31st October. You cant seem to connect Gemini at the moment so your only left with uphold. You cant even send the BAT to a website that hasn't connected a custodial account, so basically all the websites have to start again and re-register.

It's looking more like dead bat token if you ask me, makes you wonder why Brave don't just integrate lightning micropayments for ads instead....🤷

Lightning wasn’t mature enough and ETH was still POW when Brave started.

If anything, Vitalik rugged Brave and everything else building on ETH.

Hopefully they can pivot because I love Brave

Yeah all good points if they abandoned BAT for LN now though they wouldn't need to do all this custodial stuff which is probably due to it being a security. Though perhaps they plan to crash BAT first then revive the general idea with LN later? 🤷

Would tie in well with the AI stuff they are doing too.
