Relays

Bitcoin is a big, but not essential, part of Nostr; you can very easily spin up a relay which mutes any mention of Bitcoin and/or crypto shit, and you can choose not to have a Lightning address linked to your account if you have lacking or zero interest in receiving micropayments for being insightful, interesting or posting funny.

Nostr actively addresses the shortcomings of the fediverse model (Mastodon specifically, because it fucking sucks) by distributing post and profile information across every existing relay; if a relay (or multiple) censor you, you can easily swap them for other relays that don't or won't censor you. Compare that to the fediverse, where if a triggered tranny janny (cough cough, D.S.) defederates your instance, no one on that instance can see the others' users or posts.

It's not as if I've left the fediverse fully, because otherwise I wouldn't be here wasting my fucking time explaining a protocol to you that you have no genuine interest in.
