Security aside, let's look at this. You wire money abroad from a US bank to Europe and pay a hefty wire transfer fee. You charge on your visa card or paypal, and your vendor is charged a hefty fee which is passed on unbeknownst to you. In most cases, if you write a check, you are surcharged a fee by the vendor.

If you send bitcoin to another wallet, or vendor, and you are charged a small network fee, much smaller than the other alternatives. Decentralization has nothing to do with the relative cost of a bitcoin wallet.
