Ha. I’ve kind of wanted to learn Scala… but it’s just the time investment for basically the same outcomes I can get today without it.

Clojure is great once you get lisp. There seems to be a barrier to human cognition where they syntax hurts adoption. The code as data and pure functional programming aspects are incredible.

Do you think it's worth spending more time in Scala these days or better invest in something like Rust?

Java has always felt too enterprise to me. Rust was easy for me to pick up, however some concepts may be less known to you already.

Use what makes you happy. You can always pick a small project to try build in a new language and see how that goes.
