#resist #ticks
So I guess this tick-induced meat allergy thing is real. If you're a (mostly) #carnivore kind of person like me, this cannot happen.
We have a few in the family with chronic Lyme and some consequent autoimmune diseases, so I've had to learn some solid tick prevention practices. Here's what we're do.
1. Eat lots of #garlic (actually repels all blood- suckers)
2. Permethrin on the shoes
3. As much sunlight, as little shade, on the lawn as you can
4. Don't let leaves pile up
5. Spray/mist cedar oil + diatmaceous earth everywhere; repeat 3 days later to get full lifecycle; do this monthly
6. Scatter property with tick tubes
7. Scatter cedar chips along tree line and any remaining shady areas
8. If you can have Guinea hens, then do
9. Keep grass cut low
10. Use essential oil bug spray on body
11. Always do tick checks
12. Have tick removal kit handy - one at home, one in car
13. Cultivate a flock(?) of praying mantis(es?)
We've done all but # 13 so far, with decent success. Most effective was # 8 (and we got "free" eggs!).
Hope this helps someone out there.
