I'm torn between "Gossip is more secure as it's not on this terrible web stack" and "I prefer the sandboxing in my browser".

Also all my chat applications are just browser tabs that get restored when I open the browser instead of having to open a dozen independent apps.

yeah there's something to be said about the ability to go right to an application instead of fucking around with multiple tabs. pinned tabs help save some visual space, but i still try to keep my open tabs to a minimum. i don't know about gossip being "more secure." could be. i'm just exploring other clients.

I'm sure gossip can be sandboxed with other software, and it's probably best for gossip not to be involved in it's own sandboxing.

Right but with the browser it's intuitively clear that tabs don't talk to each other, so the sandboxing is very obvious and "tangible".

With Android for example, people know how permissions are a thing. On the desktop though, there is no default way of limiting permissions so I'd have to use an OS for this, which feels like a lot of hassle.
