I am told that "The major benefit of verification is that it allows a Nostr user to be identified by a human-readable name, instead of a long, hard-to-remember public key. This enables verified Nostr users to easily share their identity with others."

Is an easily shared identity a thing of value in this space?

Important thing to understand is that it is not verification by any means but rather identification. Having a nostr address (human readable nip-05 handle) doesn’t make your identity verified. And yes, nostr address is of benefit - it’s difficult to memorize your pubkey to share with others, whereas yourname[at]somedomain.com is easier to remember/share

I beleive the process leaks PPI (personally Identifiable Information), regarless of whether it verifies an alias or not.
