Cant get more than 16GB RAM in Costa Rica. Chill, shit takes time!

What .. why?

Just is what it is. That’s what’s available. Have to order internationally for more

Hmm better answer is I think it’s partially market. Import duties in CR are huge apart from books. Average is probably 30% depending on item. Local production is agriculture and medical equipment so most stuff is imported. After taxes etc everything is pricey and too expensive for most people so many importers simply stick to what the market can take. I picked some ram up in USA last time I was there. Everyone generally asks around friends when they leave the country and mule stuff in. Tarrifs? You ain’t seem shit!

42% on starter motors. 2 years ago mine and my missus car’s one went same bloody month. Around 1300usd. Freaking starter motors!

Wtf.. why…

Not sure to be honest. Only pacifist country in the world so no military cost. However it is very socialist and has big social policy stuff that costs a lot and the actual income tax is not that high really. Top bracket 25% I think. A rico friend explained it like this “you want to live a relatively simple life, tax is low, you want luxuries, you pay more tax and that’s what’s used to help bump up budget for health care for all and stuff so the system is geared that those who consume more, pay more”

Personally, I think the complexity and high level of import duties holds the country back quite a lot.

just doing some stuff and came across this on Amazon. Look at point 4, might give you a chuckle!
