I wrote this for you a while back. But I tend to go overboard. So I try to restrain myself sometimes. But here we go...
Time and rest are the greatest healers of all. Be careful that you're not drinking or eating things too hot. The number one cause of sore throats is drinking fluids too hot. But warm tea can be very helpful and soothing for a cold or sore throat.
You can gargle with warm salt water for comfort. Stay on top of brushing your teeth. Gargle with a mouthwash twice a day during difficulties may help.
You can even use a diluted shot of vodka or something similar if you don't have any mouthwash around. NOT! rubbing alcohol. I would spit the vodka out. But you can probably swallow it if you want.
Your immunity may be down. That might be why you got a cold or a pneumonia. It can temporarily make your vocal cords more susceptible to bacteria or viruses coming from your mouth. Which can lead to inflammation.
This is important... You may be having temporary episodes of GERD. Gastroesophageal reflux. Acid from your stomach may wash up over your vocal cords at night. Or when you sleep. This will irritate your vocal cords and make you horse. You can elevate the feet of the head of your bed by 6 to 8 in. Some sugar-free Tums antacid before bed might help too.
Many people are unaware that they're having this problem until it gets worse. You might even have to take something like famotidine occasionally around bed time. In addition to elevating the feet of the head of your bed.
We used to just use a few telephone books. The yellow pages. They were very thick. Sometimes we used two. Today you can stack 2x4 if needed. Or probably buy something from Amazon.
You want your sleeping surface flat, but the feet of the bed elevated at the head.
Heating and air conditioning can dry out your lungs and mucous membranes and cause problems too. You can use an inexpensive Vicks vaporizer at night in your room when you sleep, when needed. Avoid the fancy cool mist and ultrasonic humidifiers. They can admit moles and bacteria.
A basic Vicks vaporizer boils the water to produce a vapor. Killing mold and bacteria before it leaves the vaporizer. Mine is connected to a Smart switch. So all I have to do is tell it to turn on.
Sometimes I wake up with sore lungs if the air is to dry when I sleep. But I usually sleep with an open window without a problem.
Hope this helps Sweet..๐ซ
hoarse not horse, and emit not admit. Dang autocorrect..๐
Also watch out for a bacterial pneumonia. They require early intervention with antibiotics. And won't go away without them. So see your doctor if you think you might need antibiotics etc..๐ซ
Takes time, but im happy its getting better for you ๐ซ
