Both teach something along the lines that the real you is an intangible soul that has existence separate from your body. And so, there is a sort of fundamental injustice in the physical world, that it has sort of entrapped the "real you".
Ah I see, so that's the link, thanks for clarifying. It's a concept which is quite prevalent also in "eastern" religions/traditions/philosophies also.
