actually this is my fav spam prevention method. but average user is not up to the task of doing this in a private way unfortunately.

Instead of a deposit another option might be a one time payment. If you break the terms of service on the relay you need to pay again. If you break the the terms of service multiple times you get banned. You could also increase the fee each time the terms of service is broken.
