No-one who understands Bitcoin and is on Nostr needs to be prompted to not use custodial services - you’re commissarring to the choir.

Go get some new users on to Bitcoin and try it with your preferred Zeus + Alby and see how that goes.

I’ll be busy doing it with methods normies can understand because I actually care about adoption rather than being pious in the eyes of Satoshi.

i started with alby and zeus and i have onboarded people with it. i think you might be underestimating people. either way. i hear what you are saying, but this post is not an onboarding post.

many posts on nostr are the choir preaching to the choir.

it is you who have projected that this post was intended to onboard total newbies and then decided to label me a commisar as a result of your projected context. like wth?!

anyway, you'd be surprised how many people are still keeping their money in exchanges and using custodial wallets...years after they have onboarded. these are the people i'm mainly speaking to in this post.

I'm only a month into this, but I'm still using WoS. I consider it the equal to my leather wallet I keep cash in. Convenient, quick, but it could be lost or stolen anytime, plan accordingly. The bulk of my sats are in a cold wallet now, I just need a little around for zapping and the occasional payment. When I have the time and motivation a non custodial lightning solution would be great, but in the meantime I can lose $10 and not be too sad.

WoS is by far the easiest stepping stone into this! Wouldn’t change it and totally recommend it, different strokes for different folks! PV 🫂

when you're ready, please do consider an open source non-custodial wallet. it takes less than 5 min to get started with #[10] + #[11]

the #alby browser extension also allows you to easily log into your clients without having to copy/paste or type your private key.
