I’m not a Trump guy, but the argument that being disqualified from being president isn’t a punishment and therefore doesn’t need the protection of due process is insane.

The idea that due process isn’t required because it isn’t in the 14th amendment is insane. The context of the entire document is in play. Rights cannot be suspended without due process.

The idea that running for office isn’t a right is insane. It means that you are disenfranchised from fully participating in the country polis.

Fuck neo-cons and liberals both. You are destroying my country with your child-like understanding of natural rights and the constitution. Fuck you. 🖕

Telling you right now…after 2020, people will not accept this. I am 100% certain.

I crave a country that believes in its own values.

The 14th amendment was never intended to be interpreted or used in that manner, and the SCOTUS will overturn the Colorado ruling, which will derail all the similar cases working their way through the courts and other states.

We will see. I hope whatever happens, that we can hold our heads up afterwards.

Whatever plays out, 2024 will be the least trusted presidential election in US history and that's not good.

We are in accord on this. My primary goal atm is to be prepared to protect and feed my family. Hopefully I’ll be able to do more than that.

I'm likewise no fan of Orange Guy, but American Democracy is in the balance these weeks and years, in part due to the actions of the Democratic (ha-ha) Party members and elected politicians.

I blame both sides equally. And to be clear, I have the most beef with the elected, but my fellow countrymen (in general) have also failed us, by not educating themselves on our values and rights.

That is one of the things I do really enjoy about talking here, there is a higher concentration of intelligent people.

I agree, well said.

Yea I hate trump and this isn't the way to do it. This is driving full force towards a civil war.

Agree. By all measures I’ve taken (both online and personally) I’m almost exactly a centrist. Plenty of Trumps policies worked for me, but I genuinely don’t think he left us in a better place.

I never thought I’d be nostalgic for GW and Clinton. But really, I’d love to see a Reagan right now.
