Please stop using Muun.

#[0] said this last year, and now you can see why:

“when you pay or receive via lightning on muun they do an onchain swap, so you pay onchain fees, right now onchain fees are low so it is a decent tradeoff, if fees rise then it wont be”

I have made a mistake. ☹️

Sometimes this feels like a race I'm barely keeping up with. I just happened to read a few things a few months ago and stopped using it...

But who is to say if my current set up is any better?... 🤔

What’s your current setup?

I've got Zeus+alby for my zaps, wallet of satoshi as a small backup

And Phoenix for my small DCA/funding the other things I boost/zap with before I withdraw on chain.

I unfortunately only have a bitcoin core node right now, not my own LN node... I'm working on figuring that out when I can spare the time.

🤷‍♂️

Your setup sounds pretty good to me.

Make sure to check out #[6] when you’re ready to make the jump to running LN!

I agree 💯

Hard to keep up with it all. I originally moved my sats to Muun from WoS before I get a hardware wallet. Now I’m feeling bad for my decision. I feel like I’m going to move my sats out then Muun will get an update and fix the issue. 😆

My muun fee 2 weeks ago was only like 800 satoshis now it’s it 42,000 satoshis 😭😭😭😭

Even 800 was too much!

That was to withdraw to my cold storage so it was that bad WoS was much higher at like 2,000.

Wasn’t*

Only ever used muun to move from lightning to onchain.

I suspect it’ll be a while before I do that again!

So blue wallet better?

Yes, in every way. You either have to bring your own node or link an LNDhub wallet like Alby to it.

Thx

Also if you haven’t tried #[4] it’s even better as just a pure Lightning wallet. Scan the QR code from #[5] and you’re up and running in 30 seconds.

I just sent 5k sats from muun to my phoenix wallet with 2sat fee. When is the scenario when the on-chain fees would occur?

I don’t use it anymore but you can ask around. I’ve seen some ridiculous fees posted recently.

What about Breez?

Still an ok btc hot wallet, no? And convenient (when fees are low) to get some sats on lightning?
