A 6 foot black bear popped out of a bush about 40 feet away from where I was walking. I’ve never walked backwards so quickly & quietly in my life! In all the hikes I’ve done I’ve oddly never seen one.

Wife and I ran across one in Roosevelt Natl Forrest. Summummabitch ran by us at like 20mph. No idea what from or to.

Oh wow! I read that they run quickly (case in point!). Roosevelt Natl Forest looks great! One day I’ll get to Colorado! It looks so beautiful. The craziest wildlife I’ve seen are gators, cottonmouths and bobcats in Florida (which is a different kind of hike).
