Thanks to #theweekmagazine. Hardly mentioned in the election, apart from old Nigel bring up fiscal drag, but this is a super important stat IMHO. The 45% tax rate was supposed to only apply to the “rich” but once your breech the 40% barrier, 1 in 6 will eventually move into the next bracket. 6million and 1million doesn’t sound like the financial elite to me, just normal hard working, now middle class Britain., and they’re being taxed to destruction.

Gm nostriches, the excitement and anxiety of what the thieves will proclaim is nearly over but as they continue to drip feed the bad news, again they let slip that most weaselly of stealth taxes of them all, that never concerned me until I began to understand.

The freezing of tax thresholds is dragging people into higher tax brackets as the value of their earnings is being inflated away. Millions more are being made to pay more tax when they are already struggling, it is a barefaced “them” tax, but sooner of latter, inflation will draw you towards that level, and the “them” turns into the “you”.
