well ahktually...

There's a really interesting concept called the hash horizon (~5 light-minutes from the center of hash of bitcoin (centerish of the Earth), and Mars is > 5 light-minutes away ~90% of the time), so there will probably be Marscoin created out of necessity (possibly with a ~5 minute block time to avoid getting hash attacked by anyone on Earth).

This implies that, to sync economic activity across the solar system, there will eventually be a Solcoin created, with a *much* larger block time, on the order of years or decades per block. This ultimately bootstraps exploration in search of the cheapest energy in the solar system, and becomes the basic incentive for ever increasing exploration throughout the galaxy.

I first heard about it a few months ago from a podcast nostr:nprofile1qythwumn8ghj7ct5d3shxtnwdaehgu3wd3skuep0qy0hwumn8ghj7cnfw33k76twd4shs6tdv9kxjum5wvhx7mnvd9hx2qpqhk0tv47ztd8kekngsuwwycje68umccjzqjr7xgjfqkm8ffcs53dqr23eea was on and it still blows my mind whenever I think of it.
