Question - what other ways will be available to verify real human-source #nostr (and online in general) activity?
I'd say: Livestream. Streaming everything in real-time and engaging with audience in real time.
There will be only one way. Stop using Internet and invite someone for a beer. No AI will do that
Nostr Web of Trust. Look, we know eachother from Bitcoin events, so we are friends on Nostr. It is cryptographically signed and so are qll our other follows and follows back.
A bot, trying to mimick me will not have the same level of follow backs even if he tries to follow everyone I follow.
So a Nostr app can just rank order by the level of follow reciprocation and I will always be on top.
No need to scan eye balls, have government digital IDs, or have a video history.
What if a person wants to use Nostr, is not a scammer but doesn’t go to Bitcoin conferences?
If WoT follows current ‘suggested follows’ we’re all going to hell in a handcart…
That said, having been on here for about 18 months now, I think I’ve found a little corner for myself, without interacting with Conference/Podcast hosts/guests.
Best advice is always get sexy with people who DM you about money/trading, they appreciate it.
We don't need to physically meet, but it strengthens our human connection. It yields itself to curating connections with the "follow" and "unfollow" buttons.
WoT doesn't follow anything, it just is, but it is a 2-way street. Bidirectional follows create a connection and those connections are your responsibility. Suggested follows may work well on WoT, and then use FOAF - friend of a friend.

Indeed. I know a lot of folks worry about the state of Nostr, at least the lack or users… if the Fediverse is anything to go by, it’ll be an external event that brings folks here (sooooo many people joint the Fediverse when Musk bought that website).
Maybe it’ll be the major platforms doing full KYC when Nostr gets its time in the sun?
Personally I prefer these networks when they’re small.
the great thing about nostr is that we are not bound to the notion of a global network. not many clients respect the idea of restricting the relays that are searched for events to enable an isolated subnet to be used, but it can be done, and unlike the consensus-based global-focused designs of protocols like mastodon and bluesky, nostr doesn't prescribe or even have any kinds of strong consensus algorithms so it is quite easy to do.
the result is that nostr can become a plurality instead of a monolithic global, if people just pull their fingers out and get building client logic for it
It can be feature not a bug 🙂 Great to be here, where beginning of new social media (new way of spreading information) is happening.
