Although VPN can be used to avoid location information leakage, I am still worried when I see the location data of this Nostr user. This should be the location information of the Nostr account extracted from Relay. Many ordinary users are used to using centralized enterprise products, and the default is that the enterprise protects their data. Their data will not be easily used by anyone. But using Nostr, they can easily expose their location information. The data of relay is public and can be used by anyone, but many users don’t know it. Privacy and security are the shortcomings that #Nostr needs to make up.

How does it work, does it look up everyone’s IP when you visit that website?

I'm not sure. My guess is that there is a cache relay that does the data fetching.

User must provided the location them self and it's a check-in to pin your note and photos to the maps

Will it be marked only when Nostr users actively share their location information?

More likes check-in. User provided the location them self!

Informing users and letting them choose is best.

just camouflaging IP is just one step

once u see someone picture u can always reverse search it any gov fb instagram medical or corpoate DB

for using location is total diff game - user choose to be public - so nothing to hide.

u cannot stand naked in public square saying everyone close eye or you have nothign to hide.

#[2] Will it be marked only when Nostr users actively share their location information?

#[2] I would like to ask, is it because Nostr users actively share their location information that it is marked? Or is it extracted from the data in the total relay?
