Value for Value will be our killer feature on Nostr

I asked the other day if Nostr was the killer feature for Lightning or if Lightning was the killer feature for Nostr. It's a little bit of both, isn't it? Why? Because Nostr allows us to reward value with value.

One of our major successes of value for value on Nostr will be the ability for content creators to generate value from their content without relying on traditional advertising methods. This not only allows creators to connect with their followers on a deeper level, but also gives them more control over the monetization of their content.

Another success of value for value on Nostr will be the increased engagement and loyalty from followers. When users are given the option to support their favorite content creators through financial contributions, it creates a deeper connection between both parties. This not only benefits the creator, but also helps to build a stronger and more supportive community.

And the most important part? It simply just feels good to both send and receive sats. It feels good to send value to others. It feels good to receive value for your work.

But for real, It's hard for me to convey just how few fucks I give up about podcasts, podcast startups, professional thinkbois and so on.

How about Javier* who will come do your gardening IRL for sats OR LITERALLY ANY OTHER FORM OF UNDISPUTABLY REAL WORK. Nostr can provide undeplatformable service work for the entire world -- remember when that maintenance dude or whatever got fired because of a social media post supposedly being a white supremacist due to 👌.

Nostr is ECONOMIC UNCANCELLABILITY. Idgaf about some Cantillionaire making bank shilling corporate junk as a content creator losing woke sponsors. 99% of the world CANNOT speak their mind because they will not be able to feed their families if they do.

You don't actually have freedom of speech without 2A, and you don't actually have freedom of speech without Nostr providing economic uncancellability.

This may be an overreacting response, but it just sort of needs to be said, not tryna say I feel that strong of a way about it.

You realize that a shitpost is content, right? The person that creates that content creator. Even though your post lacks an understanding, I value the effort that you put into it and will provide you some value in the form of sats. You're welcome.

Thanks, fren. I think it's pretty clear people will shitpost and do all sorts of content just because they want to. Maybe there are even certain people who can benefit from arbitrage working as a professional shitposter living on first worlder tips, but humor is actually an intellectual activity so I imagine such an individual could be a graphic designer or coder (Fiverr, UpWork, and Mechanical Turk over Nostr).

"Low effort" shitposts are a medium, and they are equal able to carry a significant message as something more diplomatically/eloquently written.

I have a couple newsletters and I have thought about the value concept... something never sat right with me about the idea of being paid for such writing because I thought, if I have such great insight into the nature of the world that someone would pay me, why can I not directly monetize it? If I have thoughts on business, should I not simply be building that business. If I do not write are others going to be unable to build their business? Would be fairly arrogant for me to think so. I had takes about health... fitness and health influencers everywhere, very few people building hardware. I didn't talk efficiently, I built hardware that mattered.

Sometimes, the world reaches a state where there is enough info and it just becomes about rolling up one's sleeve and doing the real work. The impulse to be a thinkboi academic is the same impulse that exists within fiat authoritarianism, which is why I have this visceral response to it.

The smallest unit of bitcoin. It is short for satoshis. There are 100 million satoshis making up a whole bitcoin. There are only ever going to be enough satoshis for the average person on earth to have around 270k sats, which today can be obtained for about $60. If you connect a Lightning wallet (LNURL) to your Nostr profile, people can use the Lightning network to instantly and cheaply send you sats. Also, for android, what lightening wallet do you recommend? Seems my wallets don't support lightening altho I downloaded more today, so maybe I'm getting closer to figuring this puzzle out. I guess the sats is why I couldn't send a tiny increment of BC today thru the cash app bc wallet #[8] ?
