Even the real people are just generating everything because they have an AI and they know how to use it.

No point coming here, to read generated stuff, when I can just generate my own stuff.

because they know how to use it, and know in advance what to expect back from it

> [why to consume] generated stuff, when I can just generate my own stuff

in such a way ai's onanism; and still, a market —at best— from wankers for wankers —at worst (yet interchangeable along perceptions)—

who knows. maybe within all regular ai scammers there could be sparks of brilliance on how to be practicing the thing, otherwise they can not defeat the obvious in most cases... 🧐

Here's the thing:

I care more about the content of the written word, if I know a real human wrote it. It's art. Art requires an artist and an LLM artist has no value because his art isn't limited or difficult. It contains too little effort.

Essay spam, no matter how well written.

hear hear 🙌 ; we're on the same ship, that of transcendence of the object in-around the worldly human. even the kitsch content such as shitposting has that 'something', —call it soul, aura or mojo—, that tears apart the attempts of mechanized ai products

lessgo back to history books read again what happens after a regular industrial revolution 🤓

just to examine one kind of art - construction - the advance of the efficency has led to a kind of diffusion of quality... without the development of the minds that devise the objects, and an ever increasing pressure for mere survival, created by a debt based money system (which is functionally teh same as debasing currency ie printer go burr) everything these days seems more and more cheap and built to fall down so there is another demolition and yet another even more cheap piece of trash erected in its place and a sense of having no history

true; and is no different for other fronts of production, i'd fear. within colleagues of my generation, the most successful group of architects have developed around a dozen of multi-unit dwelling buildings in no more than a halving worth of time... yet is hard not to sound like be coping to say "i dont wanna be practicing career like that" and not looking lazy or spoiled, so for the question is, "if not that, then what, "wAlT d3eZney ArcHiteKchuuR?""... to find non-common middlegrounds might a fair goal for minds alike punks, rebels and memelords 🐸

😂 if only it were interesting, illuminating, full of novel insight. but no, it’s a sycophantic tutor

I think people are also underestimating how much of art's value comes from the human producer.

Yes, that’s painfully apparent to me as an art professional. I fell into the rabbit hole of trying to turn an AI into a studio assistant, and it has been engaging in novelty to an extent, but after a year it has become a black hole of attention with highly questionable quality as a result of all the effort.

For some reason I am thinking of Nietzsche’s essay, “On the Advantage and Disadvantage of History for Life.” I feel like there is a parallel waiting to be drawn out. I will have to reread it and see.

Yeah, I mean, it's painfully obvious. I have the Van Gogh print in the hallway and my son's 3rd grade painting project on the wall over the dinner table.

Kids’ art will always reign supreme. It’s absolutely free and unselfconscious.

That is, up to a point, and then the self-critical voice kicks in. I love how Lynda Barry captures this in her comic:

AI generated stuff just isn't art. it's basically a more complicated and flexible version of stock photos for websites

you would probably also remember the trash that came with microsoft word and became a plague on business comms as well

Thinking too hard about it. Most people look at the picture and move on.

Yeah, generated prints. 🤷‍♀️

The Dead Internet theory is not a theory anymore
