In some ways 2025 wasn’t the best for me, but in others it was amazing. My mother had a stroke in April, not ideal, but between my brother, dad and myself, we cared for her around our own duties and feel she’s on the mend, this is from my father’s birthday party last night, excellent fun was had with some great food and drink. Kids menus at quality restaurants are the best.

Anyway, not the point, I really hate, I mean truly hate when people dish out thanks feeling they can offset the massive effort someone has made “thanks for busting a gut while I sat in my ass, passing judgement” shit, going off topic. But when my mother thanked me for looking after her this year, it felt like my year’s achievement. The problem is then how to respond? have issues with “you’re welcome”, “it was my pleasure” is slightly better, but I tried “thank you for being a sanctuary for me, looking after you was no problem at all” she raised me for fucks sake, there is quite the debt to repay. Look out for your ma, you only have one freaks!!!
