Most black-pilling thing is about right.
Interestingly "suicide"-attacks were a major taboo among Islamists before the 1990s. Even Hezbollah had to get approached by a young Christian volunteer to show them how it's done before they made it a tactic.
Communists were previously the main users of suicide-attacks, along with Nationalists of various flavours (Imperial Japan, Viet Minh, Kurdish PKK, Tamil Tigers).
Very interesting.
See Prof. Pape's "Dying To Win: The Strategic Logic of Suicide Terrorism"

Not that there was any logic or strategy behind this crime, but the book goes a long way to explaining the political and practical imperatives that make it a valourised act in some social circles.
