thank you so much for clearing this up for me!!! I already have multiple SDs with diff. Linux distros, and I have an old dell latitude 3190 w/ ubuntu 24.04, and a HP elite book with Ubuntu WSL - could you point me in the right direction for setting up a public relay with wifi, either a GitHub Repo or link or something ? I would super appreciate it, I want to get more involved with the Nostr community and protocol ! 🙏🏼😎🌊🤙🏼

The old dell latitude will be perfect. Ubuntu is fine. It'll already have everything you'll need to run any of these nostr relays. You'll need nginx installed or nginx proxy manager if you prefer a web interface to organize your SSL certificates.

When setting up the proxy, remember to turn on the websockets option in nginx because all connections to nostr relays are done via wss:// connections. Only the simple web page that most have to describe the server are delivered over https.
