I didn't invent the Internet, I founded the commercial Internet in1989 along with 3 other, more important people.

i.e. my company was the existing business case that was used as a reason why commercial companies need the Internet

I'm not in the same league or status as Vint, nor am I American, so while I could use ICANN, I have better routes.

But like most things, using historical power or influence comes with a cost and reduces the power you think you had in the first place.
