I typically lean toward user choice on issues like this generally. I think client choice will play a role in things like this going forward. People will probably choose clients based on certain values of the client. For example, #Amethyst offers a ton of options that I tend to value as a user. Others might be overwhelmed by the number of choices. Some users may opt for clients that don't allow or show edits (if that's possible).

The reality is that people like to edit notes in the real world. To not allow such a thing fundamentally changes my perception of what Nostr even is. Calling them notes would certainly be a lot more confusing if nothing else.
