I got my fiancee a new, cheap, clean laptop for setting her up with Bitcoin.

With Win 11, Microsoft is hard-forcing machines to setup a Microsoft Account.

I duckduckgo’d how to get around that, and some of the easier (command line) ways seem to have been shut down by MS already.

My signal in saying this:

The methods still being touted involve knowing this ahead of time and not establishing an internet connection at all before bypassing.

MS wants the computer you bought to only be an authorized terminal on their mainframe network.

CBDC anyone?

Yes! You can use Linux Mint without having much of a Linux education

Surprised anyone in bitcoin uses windows

I use it for work because the IT guy prefers it... Can't imagine using it for a personal machine...

Just download Mint or Ubuntu and you're good...

I like Fedora myself...

Using MacOS still but when this machine craps out I'm running Linux
