Participants in the network are not incentivized to break the rules, also it’s really hard to break it even if they wanted to. Outside actors with advance tech(like non-existent quantum computers) will attempt to do it, and devs will keep increasing security to make it harder to the point of impossibility. Agree with your sentiment of “protect what we got” though. We do have something really special here.
