Real Ale, is supposed to be drank at room temperature, as is red wine. I am currently drinking Gin & Orange though. It is chilled.

Why is it supposed to be that way? Is it because it was invented before refrigeration?

Erm, that's a good question. Lager is supposed to be drank chilled and you CAN drink real ale chilled, but I find that the flavours are more vibrant at room temperature. Additionally, it's always fucking freezing over here so refrigeration isn't always necessary😬😂.

the average beer in North America is a lager brewed At coer temps and tastes way better cold and kinda shitty warm European beer are often ales wich are brewed at warmer temperatures and often when served too cold as said before the flavours don't come out until room temp. I love an ice cold lager, gose etc. but an ice cold stout will taste so so much better if left at room temperature for an hour....... I've done alot of research on this subject ;)

I like my Guiness extra cold.

I also should have said at the end "but to each their own"

Guinness in particular is still very good cold in particular its malt flavour still comes out nicely cold
