I do believe the regime itself ruined it for us – just as the soviets postponed the date to divide people who share the same pain, the same way the present regime acts – nowadays even inside the country.

a big civil event called Immortal Regiment is cancelled this year. the one where people gather together and parade portraits of their relatives who were lost in WWII. not long time ago it has been co-opted by the state - and for this year even cancelled.
guess why –yeap, there is a reason besides the security ones. that’s their fear of new, modern day portraits – and the accompanying anger that will arise when people realize how many were lost in another useless and unreasonable war
