I personally do not think the very subtle fact that your node didn’t relay the content in question wouldn’t save you if it’s downloaded on your node anyway.

If these fuckers want you you’re got no matter what you did or did not do. The hypothetical of arresting node runners en mass is a silly fiction in my opinion. The amount of resources it would take to try would be huge, there would be massive blowback, and they would understand this attack would have zero impact on the function of Bitcoin.

You think the feds want to investigate, try and potentially add thousands of non violent offenders to their already crowded “justice” system? It’s full of hardcore killers, gang bangers and serious criminals already. They don’t care about us running nodes. It’s just a very silly series of thoughts in my opinion.

I could be wrong but looking at the situation rationally I just don’t see it.

You could be wrong, so let’s risk it anyway?

So do you base your life decisions on far out tail risks? If so, NGMI. If there is a less than 1% chance of happening it’s really not worth consideration in your decision making. There is risk of a bad accident every time I drive but it’s tiny so I make the drive anyways.

Also, you can’t stop this. Running knots is a LARP. It does nothing and is a risk vector to your personal funds as there are hundreds of unreviewed commits. It’s a terrible risk/reward.

We won’t have to wait long to see who’s right.

You know you can put pictures on the Ethereum blockchain, right? We don’t need to do this to Bitcoin.

I don’t want it to happen. But it’s happening. Best to understand the situation and either abandon Bitcoin if you think it’s existential or continue if you think it isn’t.

So what’s your position? That Bitcoin node runners will be rounded up and imprisoned?

My position is that I’m not giving up on Bitcoin. It’s our best chance at freedom money. I’m gonna try and reach as many plebs at possible. We can’t stop Core from dropping V30. But we can inform plebs and hopefully they won’t upgrade. 🤷🏻

I’ve never been big on updating my node. But the unfortunate reality is that just a small percentage of core 30 nodes is all it takes. For me it’s best to accept that it’s going to happen and move forward.

In no way does this change break Bitcoin, hurt adoption or endanger any participant in the Network. It’s noise. That’s my position after study.

Keep speaking your mind though different perspectives is part of why Bitcoin is so resilient.
