I’ve heard mixed reviews, specifically that it was highly secure due to the containerization, but the trade-off was convenient.

I came to suggest trying Qubes too. Or Mint.
You can spin up instances of other OS too. I've heard some folks even have Windows virtual machines on Qubes.
I say try it once. Almost did myself this quarter.
