Past times were always better?

I still remember in my country when we could leave the door of our house open for hours and nothing would happen.

I remember in my country when you could leave your bicycle in the street and nobody would steal it.

I remember in my country when you could walk quietly through the streets of the capital without anything happening to you.

Now my country is becoming a dunghill with no security, neither physical nor legal, and we pay more taxes than ever.

This happens in most European countries, and obviously the solution is not more state.
