The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has been lending near a record amount of $171 billion to nearly 100 countries to address the challenges of debt, conflicts, and poverty. The IMF credit outstanding, which measures the money disbursed by the fund, reached approximately $151 billion at the end of February .

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen revealed that the recently passed $1.2 trillion government funding bill includes provisions allowing the United States to lend up to $21 billion to an International Monetary Fund (IMF) trust.
