Houses cost less money to build now than they used to.
It takes less workers and less energy to produce food than it used to.

Depends, I think. You gotta get the land before you can build. I do want to build, though.
Fun fact, here in Australia, a single guy owns 30 thousand empty houses.
And the government pays him to keep them empty, because if he sold the houses it would collapse the price of housing and then everyone would be able to afford a house.
So this one guy is getting paid to land bank 30 thousand houses.
And he isn't the only one doing it either, there are dozens of rich developers getting paid to keep houses empty.
