Surprisingly, 12% of students at the University of Tokyo, Japan’s top university, are Chinese. In graduate programs, one in five students is Chinese. Regarding Japan’s globally popular anime production, China is poaching Japanese talent with higher wages. Moreover, Chinese investors are increasingly buying up Japanese land, water sources, hotels, ryokans, and temples. At this rate, Japan may eventually become a part of China.
